YMCA Ridgewood

Location:

69-02 64th Street, Ridgewood

Challenge:

Convert a 1930s era courthouse into a contemporary urban community/fitness center for this high profile YMCA branch. However, the building’s original cooling, sanitary, and waste systems needed a complete overhaul and the entire site had to be made handicap accessible.

Solution:

  • Installed new roof top cooling and heating units.
  • Added new sprinkler, fire alarm, and annunciation systems.
  • Installed a modern vertical transportation elevator to make all 3 facility levels handicap accessible.
  • Overhauled the sanitary and underground waste system, including new house traps and connections to the city’s sanitary sewer system.
  • Constructed a new concrete access ramp with an internal snow melt system for safe and easy access by members year-round.

Other Services Provided:

  • Added rolling mirrors and resilient floating wood floors to the aerobics studio.
  • Installed toilets, shower rooms, and vanities to the men’s & women’s locker rooms.
  • Added “modernfold” wall partitions that can be opened to create larger space in the community center’s four classrooms.

This is one of several projects CIP has done for the YMCA of Greater New York.
